After a hard fought win to secure Mashtuur City, the [S2] troops were thinking it was time for a little bit or R&R. High Command ( re VyperAus) had other ideas, with intelligence revealing a hidden enemy command bunker on the Chinese coast. What made it even more attractive was it was being guarding by a regiment from some old foes AEF 1st Commando Regiment.

1st Round [S2] as USMC
Grabbing their spanners and helmets, the [S2] armoured division mounted their trusty steeds, A_Chic taking the tank while Ezy was in the LAV. The diesel engines were roaring as they drove out of the beach head, both drivers coughing as they drove through the dust cloud left by VyperAus as he raced off ahead in the souped up DPV. The DPV was on its way to Camp Beta to secure that location while the armoured column was on its way to Camp Alpha. The rest of the attack squad spawned in on VyperAus, securing the Camp Beta flag and also gaining access to a bright shiny new tank which BlueThunder took control of. Commander Jax though spoiled the party by deploying a UAV which revealed a massive force of AEF soldiers flooding towards Beta, hiding in the rocks just outside the flag zone, and a brutal fire fight erupted, with the bodies piling up and the medics for both sides working over time. No matter how many AEF were killed they were still in the rocks like termites in wood. [S2] threw everything at them, SRAWS, rifle fire, 50.cal fire, tank shells, nothing would dislodge them from the rocks, eventually though a good liberally sprinkling of pest control ( in this case artillery ) plus a few well placed SRAWs finally cleaned out the rocks and Beta was secure for a short while. Over at Alpha it was anything but quiet with Chiccy and Ezy, supported by Bullant in the armour holding on to the flag despite numerous armour pushes by AEF. Not only were they busy dodging artillery and exchanging gunfire with enemy Tanks and APCís, but also having to dodge the numerous fanatics who were being employed by the AEF, filling bongo vans full of explosives and driving headlong into the [S2] armour. Both Alpha and Beta came under numerous attacks, with the AEF succeeding in greying and then capping Beta after their commander applied his own pest control, timed with some nice flanking movement by the AEF infantry forces. A counter-attack was needed and the [S2] troops attacked with vigour, cleaning out the flag, and reclaiming Camp Beta and putting the bleed back onto the AEF, which was really eating into the tickets as the round was ticking away. AEF were constantly on the move, putting pressure on both flags looking for an opening, and then changing tactics, managing to get a commando squad around behind our lines and into our main, nearly capping the flag but only cut off by some desperate defending by Commander Jax, and some well timed support from Bishop. They managed this not once but twice, the 2nd time was even closer with the flag nearly grey but there was a little bit more support this time as Ezy came back to lend a hand with his APC which was just as well because it was a full squad of troops attacking the flag. The attack was driven off much to the relief of [S2] and for the rest of the round all flags were held securely, with the bleed and kills winding down the round to a win to [S2] 96 -0

Round 2 [S2] as China
A quick substitution at half-time by [S2] bringing in HRT for BlueThunder ( HRT had spent the 1st round fiddling with his TV, as if not have a decent CRT monitor yet) and a quick chance for a drink saw the [S2] troops ready for the 2nd round, knowing that it was all the more difficult as china on this map. The spawns were pretty awful for the armour drivers with loud complaints coming over the radio. Meanwhile the Attack squad were leading a charmed life, with lady luck smiling on Vyper as he got the spawn closest to the FAV and so was well on the way to Camp Beta, after taking a liking to the location after the 1st round. With their lives finally in order, Ezy and Chic set out towards Camp Alpha. The battle was on with the AEF DPV rocking up to Camp Beta about a fraction of a second after the [S2] FAV. VyperAus took cover while the rest of his squad engaged the AEF troops who took cover behind the barricade wall. A well timed grenade from AEF Warpol took out both Vyper and LMK, but thanks to some great medic work by Bishop all was not lost and soon the AEF troops were driven off, helped along the way by HRT who somehow had managed to get his hands on the tank that had spawned in when the flag was captured. Over at Camp Alpha it was a different kettle of fish, with the AEF getting to the flag first which started a monster battle with both sides committing forces to it as fast as possible. The First AEF attack was driven off and the [S2] Armoured division moved in for the capture, but a well timed counter offensive by the AEF, with their armour engaging the [S2] armour at long range tying them down, so that an infantry squad could get into close range and decimate the armour with some well placed SRAWS and a Tow as well. So Alpha fell into AEF hands and both sides now had 2 flags and no bleed. A number of forays were attempted by both sides, AEF trying to push into Beta and also the Chinese main, while [S2] made several aborted attempts on Alpha. Changing tact, [S2] tried for the beachhead flag, racing 3 guys down to the flag in a DPV, only to have mistimed their attack to arrive just as the armour had respawned and came face to face with a very angry AEF tank and APC. Timing was of the essence and the 2nd time proved perfect as Fireman Bishop and Vyper Aus pushed in and captured beachhead, putting AEF onto the bleed, denying their commander his assets and also capturing 2 valuable pieces of armour to use. AEF were still fighting strong making several attempts to re-claim the beachhead and also getting a squad leader into the hills overlooking the Chinese main. But it wasnít too be as the bleed and the armour wore down the AEF defenders, the flag at Camp Alpha was way too hot to capture, so the round ended with a stoic hard fought defence of their last flag by the AEF until the last ticket bled away and the round ended 90-0

Round 1 [S2] 96 AEF 1st CR 0
Round2 [S2] 90 AEF 1st Cr 0
Total [S2] 186 AEF 1st CR 0

Once more ATOM has proved to be a fantastic map to play on. A big thanks must go out to the AEF 1st CR, ColKlink and the guys. You played a fantastic game, even with being 2 players short. So big thanks to you guys and itís always good fun having a bash with the AEF. To the [S2] troops well done, a tough job but the job got done. Overall fantastic effort by all, special mention to Fireman and Qbar for good performances and one eyed bully as well.
